Martha and James’ Killruddery Estate wedding was modern, stylish and refreshingly untraditional — a day that put fashion, atmosphere and time with their guests above everything else.
Set on the grounds of Killruddery Estate in Wicklow, their wedding felt more like a beautifully dressed garden party than a formal affair. The focus wasn’t on rigid timelines or endless posed photos, but on enjoying the day fully — something that shaped how we approached photographing and filming their wedding from the very beginning.
Martha wore a statement Vivienne Westwood gown that perfectly suited the relaxed grandeur of Killruddery. Sculptural, elegant and unapologetically fashion-led, it felt bold without overpowering the setting — a dress that demanded very little styling because it already said everything.
James paired the look effortlessly with a crisp white tuxedo jacket, creating a modern, editorial contrast that felt confident and timeless. Together, their style choices set the tone for the day: intentional, fashion-forward, and refreshingly personal.
Killruddery is a venue that allows couples to lean into individuality, and Martha and James did exactly that.
The Ceremony & Celebration
The Orangery at Killruddery Estate adds another layer of magic to the day. Flooded with natural light, it creates a beautifully bright, flattering space — a gift for everyone’s complexion and a rare luxury in Ireland, where wedding days are often shaped by softer, greyer skies. Even when the weather turns, the Orangery holds its own, offering warmth and light without losing the character of the estate. As Martha walked down the aisle, the emotion in the room was unmistakable. James was visibly moved — and who could blame him — with the music, the atmosphere, and the sheer beauty of the moment combining into something genuinely unforgettable.
The ceremony was accompanied by the Dublin String Quartet, adding a soft, elegant layer to the day that suited the setting perfectly. As the celebrations continued, the relaxed, guest-focused atmosphere remained — no rushing, no over-structuring, just a wedding that flowed naturally from one moment to the next.
And cake duties were handled by The Fat Fox, because great cake should never be overlooked.
A key priority for Martha and James was spending as much time as possible with their guests — not disappearing for long portrait sessions or feeling pulled away from the celebration.
Working closely with Kevin from Little Bear, we moved quickly and intuitively throughout the day, capturing what mattered without interrupting it. Portraits were done efficiently, moments were documented as they unfolded, and the couple were able to stay present — laughing, talking and celebrating with the people they love.
This kind of collaboration makes a huge difference. When photography and film work in sync, couples get the best of both worlds: beautiful, considered coverage and a wedding day that never feels like it’s on pause.
